Romina Bompani, head of partnerships for ICOMIA

The International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) has appointed Romina Bompani as head of partnerships, a newly created role focused on strengthening collaboration across the global recreational marine industry.

Bompani will be responsible for developing ICOMIA’s network of strategic partners and supporting engagement across its more than 40 national and sector associations.

She brings more than 20 years of international marine industry experience, having worked across Europe, the United States and Latin America. Her background includes developing commercial infrastructure, stakeholder engagement and delivering strategic initiatives aimed at driving business growth. She is also fluent in English, French, Italian and Spanish.

In her new role, Bompani will work with ICOMIA’s member associations, industry stakeholders, commercial partners and international organisations to develop opportunities around collaboration, knowledge sharing, research, advocacy and industry standards.

According to ICOMIA, the appointment forms part of a wider effort to strengthen the member experience, develop commercial partnerships and improve the organisation’s use of data and digital tools in its engagement with members, sponsors and the wider industry.

The ICOMIA board has also welcomed two new appointments, with Carla Demaria joining as a co-opted director in July and British Marine chair Matthew Beckwith appointed to the board in June.

Bompani comments: “I am delighted to be joining ICOMIA at such an exciting time for the global marine industry. The challenges and opportunities facing our sector require stronger collaboration than ever before.

“I look forward to working with our members, industry partners, and stakeholders around the world to build meaningful partnerships that deliver value, foster innovation, and support a sustainable future for the recreational marine industry.”

ICOMIA CEO Joe Lynch adds: “Romina is exceptionally well connected across the international marine community and brings a wealth of experience in stakeholder engagement, communications, and industry collaboration. As ICOMIA continues to expand its global reach and impact, partnerships will play an increasingly important role in delivering our strategic objectives.

“We are delighted to welcome Romina to the team and look forward to the energy, expertise, and new opportunities she will bring to the organisation and our members.”

Bompani will represent ICOMIA at boat shows and industry events across Europe and the United States in the coming months.
