Data Hidrolik is doubling the size of its production footprint as part of a US$6.3m factory investment designed to increase output, accelerate deliveries and support the development of equipment for larger vessels. The Turkish marine equipment manufacturer says the expansion will also bring its production, R&D, testing and customer support capabilities under a strengthened operational structure.
The company specialises in hydraulic steering systems and deck machinery, with a portfolio spanning private boats and mega yachts as well as commercial and naval vessels. In leisure boating, its systems include hydraulic steering cylinders, helm pumps and complete steering packages, alongside anchoring and mooring equipment such as hydraulic windlasses and capstans.
The company says its steering systems are designed for vessels ranging from smaller boats through to large yachts, while its deck machinery is engineered to combine the power and reliability required for anchoring and mooring with the space and aesthetic considerations of yacht design.
Data Hidrolik doubles production footprint
As part of the new investment, 5,000 square meters will be added to the company’s existing 5,000-square-meter indoor production facility. As the production area is increased by approximately 100 percent, the manufacturing capacity is also expected to double.
“We do not view our new factory investment merely as an increase in physical capacity,” says board member Cem Hüroğlu. “By expanding our testing facilities and R&D centre alongside our production area, we aim to develop products that meet the requirements of higher-tonnage vessels.”
New subsidiary separates after-sales operations
In addition, through a new subsidiary, Data Hidromekanik Marine Service, the parent company plans to fully separate its after-sales services and spare parts operations from its manufacturing activities. The new structure is intended to enable faster and more efficient after-sales operations, reduce response times to customer needs and allow production units to focus on their core activities.
Hüroğlu says the company’s ranked first for three years running in a Marine Equipment and Supply Industry Export Category run by an exporters’ association. That’s: “A tangible indicator of the level we have reached in exports. With this new investment, we aim to meet higher-volume export orders, broaden our product portfolio and shorten order delivery times.”
Investment targets higher-tonnage vessels
Data Hidrolik, which is also actively involved in military projects, plans to strengthen its engineering and manufacturing capabilities in this field through the technical infrastructure provided by the new facility. Once the investment becomes operational, the company is expected to undertake more extensive military and commercial projects and create new employment opportunities across its manufacturing, engineering, R&D and support units.
