D-Marin has announced the adoption of smart sensor technology, powered by Sense4Boat technology, across its network of marinas.

The technology has been installed to date on over 10,000 vessels. The smart sensors provide 24/7 monitoring and send instant alerts via the D-Marin app for a range of risk factors, including water ingress, battery overheating, fire detection, and unauthorised movement.

According to the marina group, more than 90 per cent of eligible customers have adopted the system, which is included in yearly berthing fees at no extra cost. Integrated into the app, the sensors transmit alerts to marina personnel and boat owners, enabling a rapid response to any potential problem.

Marina teams are notified instantly and have reportedly resolved or investigated an average of more than 200 critical alerts per month.

Matthias Gehring, chief digital officer at D-Marin, comments: “Safety is a top priority for every boat owner, and at D-Marin, we’re committed to setting new standards in vessel protection. Our smart sensors detect potential issues in real time, and our marina teams are ready to act immediately day or night. This combination of technology and responsiveness gives our customers the peace of mind that their vessel is always in safe hands.”

Several D-Marin customers have reported successful interventions thanks to the new system. In one case at D-Marin Lefkas, a sailing yacht owner received an in-app notification of battery overheating while onboard. At D-Marin Borik, a water ingress alert was triggered for a high-performance RIB, prompting marina intervention before further complications arose. Additional cases across sites in Turkey and Croatia also highlight the technology’s benefits in identifying hidden issues.
