Inspiration Marine Group has announced the rebranding of its brokerage division, Michael Schmidt & Partner, as part of a move to bring its yacht sales operations under a single identity. The brokerage division will now operate under the Inspiration Marine Group name.
Michael Schmidt & Partner has been part of the Group since 2007, with the brokerage business bringing decades of experience in yacht sales and ownership transitions. The rebrand is intended to create a unified platform for those buying, selling and managing yachts.
James Stone, director of Inspiration Marine Group, says the change reflects how clients increasingly approach yacht ownership. “Clients do not see brokerage and new boat sales as separate journeys. They move between buying and selling over time, and this brings everything into one structure that reflects that reality.”
The firm explains the rebrand comes as yacht brokerage transactions become increasingly complex, with factors including international sales, higher-value assets and post-Brexit regulations creating greater demand for specialist support around VAT status, importation and certification.
The Group has HMRC Customs Warehouse Approval status, allowing ex-VAT boats to be marketed and sold from the UK while avoiding import tax liabilities. The firm said integrating brokerage fully into its wider group structure will help provide a more consistent approach for clients navigating these requirements.
Stone adds: “This is not about retiring a respected name. It is about harnessing everything that name represents to build a stronger platform for the future. The expertise, relationships and standards that defined Michael Schmidt & Partner will remain integral to our business.”
Following the rebrand, Inspiration Marine Group will continue to represent a portfolio of sailing and powerboat brands including Hanse, Dehler and Moody sailing yachts, Fjord, Sargo powerboats (which joined the portfolio in 2025) and Privilege Marine catamarans.
