Marina management software developer Metarina has signed Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) as its first enterprise client.
The partnership will see MDI deploy Metarina’s marina management software across its growing network of marinas in Southeast Asia, starting with the new Bali Gapura Marina, which opens in November.
The collaboration marks Metarina’s shift from a Mediterranean-focused software-as-a-service provider to an enterprise technology partner for marinas globally.
MDI says it chose Metarina as its technology and innovation partner following a review of existing marina management solutions. The system will connect all of MDI’s marina technologies under a single platform.
“We needed more than just software. We needed a strategic partner who could serve as the centrepiece connecting all our innovations,” says Ulf Backlund, CEO of MDI.
“While other providers continue promoting rigid systems, Metarina’s dynamic team enables us to lead in technology innovation rather than constantly playing catch-up. They’re helping us stay ahead of the tech curve, not just respond to it, but use it to drive growth and efficiency.”
“Our journey from serving individual Mediterranean marinas to partnering with visionary groups like MDI proves that the industry is ready for a new paradigm,” says Henry Hooper, CEO of Metarina. “We’re not just providing software, we’re becoming the technology and innovation department for leading marinas worldwide.”
Metarina’s recognition as Scaleup of the Year at the Smart Marina Rendezvous in Monaco reflects its growing profile in the sector. Victor Meyer from M3 Monaco, the event organiser, says: “Metarina received this recognition for its role in rethinking how technology can support marina managers. At the recent ICOMIA World Marinas Conference, discussions on innovation revealed how older systems hold back digital progress.
He continued: “Metarina’s different approach shows that meaningful change can be achieved; not by refining existing frameworks, but by developing adaptable solutions that reflect the evolving realities of today’s marinas.”
Hooper adds: “The beauty of our model is that we make world-class marina technology accessible to ambitious operators everywhere. Marinas no longer need to choose between outdated systems and building expensive in-house teams. We provide a third path: a comprehensive technology partnership that enables them to lead their markets.”
