The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA), working in partnership with Marina Projects, has launched a revised edition of the TYHA Code of Practice.
The updated code — unveiled during the ICOMIA World Marina Conference 2025 in Venice — is scheduled to be available to TYHA members in early 2026.
TYHA says this revision follows consultation with TYHA members in the UK and internationally, and incorporates material from recognised international codes and regulatory structures. The update is also intended to serve as a reference for longer-term planning within the marina sector, according to the association.
The revised code consists of four volumes covering key aspects of marina activities and infrastructure: planning and development, marina operations, boatyard and superyacht. TYHA says it has been developed to reflect updated sector practices, including adjustments to environmental considerations.
Jon White, general manager at TYHA says: “The leisure marine sector is growing and evolving at a rapid pace, putting increasing pressure on marina designers, builders and operators to maintain the highest standards. Our new Code of Practice provides the best possible guidance for our members across 30 countries to achieve just that.”
Mike Ward, managing director of Marina Projects adds: “The World Marina Conference provided an invaluable opportunity for TYHA and Marina Projects to bring the conference up to speed on the collaboration between the two organisations. The launch of the 8th edition of the TYHA Code of Practice for marina planning, design and operations, also formed the focal point of our joint stand at the conference, and the Marina Projects team were impressed and excited by the extent of interest in the launch, from across the full breadth of the international marina community.”
Members will gain access to the revised code in early 2026. TYHA plans to run a programme of in-person roadshow events across the UK alongside online sessions during the first half of the year. These are intended to provide clarification on content, practical information on implementation and opportunities for members to ask questions directly. Additional details will be issued prior to the rollout.
