Volvo Penta appoints new leadership in North America

Volvo Penta North America has announced new leadership appointments for its marine business, naming Brock Gavin as vice president of marine sales and service and Jens Bering as head of product and solutions management.

Gavin will lead the company’s marine sales and service activities in North America. His responsibilities include maintaining relationships with existing OEM partners, dealers and customers, along with identifying additional commercial opportunities that align with Volvo Penta North America’s long-term strategic objectives.

His previous position was president of Arrow Truck Sales, a Volvo Group company in Kansas City, Missouri, where he held responsibility for operations, business development and strategic initiatives for Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks. Earlier roles include vice president of commercial operations for Mack Trucks, following his appointment to Volvo Group in 2016 as director of CRM for Group Trucks North America.

Bering, who has nearly thirty years of experience with Volvo Penta North America, will oversee product and solutions management. The remit includes managing product development across its lifecycle, from early concept planning to launch and implementation. Bering joined the company in 1997 as an applications engineer and has since worked in roles focused on product management, sales, pricing, profitability and product training.

“Brock’s customer-first leadership and Jens’ deep technical expertise and market understanding make for a powerful combination,” says Fredrik Högberg, president of Volvo Penta North America. “Together, they will help us accelerate innovation, strengthen our market presence and continue delivering exceptional value to our marine partners and customers across North America.”

The news comes weeks after Volvo Penta named Hanna Ljungqvist as head of its marine business and member of the Volvo Penta Executive Group.
