Teakdecking Systems (TDS) has launched a new marine decking product, SeaSole, designed to fill a market gap between soft foam decking and traditional polyurethane systems. The company says that it combines comfort with durability and features a peel-and-stick backing that aims to reduce installation time and labour costs for both original equipment manufacturers and refit projects.
“SeaSole is truly unique in the marketplace,” says Richard Strauss, chief executive officer at Teakdecking Systems. “It fills a gap between EVA and traditional polyurethane decking, giving boatbuilders and owners an affordable, durable option that doesn’t compromise on comfort or aesthetics.”
The Sarasota-based company, known for its teak, composite, and cork decking systems, describes SeaSole as a polyurethane composite with a cushioned feel, designed to be both soft underfoot and resistant to wear. The easy-to-apply neoprene backing allows it to be installed without adhesives or fasteners, potentially cutting back significantly on time and mess during the fit-out process.
SeaSole is particularly suited to applications where performance and low maintenance are required but cost and speed are also critical. TDS positions the product as suitable for a wide range of vessels, from leisure boats to commercial craft. Plus, its easy to clean and repair and, says TDS, has competitive pricing compared to traditional systems.
SeaSole complements Teakdecking Systems’ existing range of decking products and supports the company’s ongoing focus on innovation. Founded in 1983, TDS is an employee-owned business with facilities in Florida and Spain. In addition to decking, the company offers marine repair products and accessories such as adhesives, caulk, and cleaners through global distribution.
