Teledyne completes acquisition of TransponderTech

Teledyne Technologies has completed the acquisition of the TransponderTech business from Saab AB, further expanding its maritime technology portfolio.

The news first broke of the TransponderTech acquisition in August.

The newly acquired company, now operating as Teledyne FLIR TransponderTech AB, will join Teledyne’s established marine brands — Raymarine, FLIR Marine, ChartWorld and Teledyne CARIS — strengthening the group’s offering across navigation, communication and situational awareness systems.

Based near Linköping, Sweden, the business will market its products and solutions under the FLIR TransponderTech name.

Teledyne’s latest acquisition adds to the assets of Maretron – Octoplex, MPower and MConnect – which it secured in July 2025. In February 2025 it also cherry-picked select aerospace and defence electronics businesses from Excelitas Technologies for approximately $710 million.

FLIR TransponderTech will continue to innovate and deliver leading automatic identification system (AIS), VHF data exchange system (VDES), and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) technologies. It will be well-positioned to continue to pioneer maritime communication solutions for civil and military customers in shipping, marine traffic, airborne and space segments.

“We are delighted to welcome the TransponderTech team to the Teledyne family,” says George Bobb, president and chief executive officer. “From complete autonomous underwater vehicles to products and services for large Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) class vessels, maritime instrumentation and software for imaging, navigation, and safety are core markets for Teledyne. FLIR TransponderTech’s communications and navigation solutions are highly complementary and further expand FLIR Marine’s portfolio of industrial, military, and airborne technologies.”
