Sanlorenzo has presented its new flagship, the 74Steel, during a launch event in La Spezia. At 74m and around 1,900GT, it is the largest yacht the shipyard has built to date.
The vessel, constructed in steel and aluminium, features a diesel-electric propulsion system and represents the top end of Sanlorenzo’s size range.
The Italian boating giant reports that three hulls have been sold and a fourth is under negotiation. The owner of each yacht has requested changes to interior design, layouts and bow configurations.

While the platform is engineered to 72m LOA, the first orders vary slightly in length depending on the bow. The first two units are equipped with diesel-electric propulsion, while the third unit utilises a conventional in-line shaft arrangement.
The exterior design, created by Zuccon International Project, combines curved lines with a vertical bow and a dynamic stern. Bernardo Zuccon, architect, says: “This project marks a decisive change of scale in floating architecture. The exterior design is the outcome of an extensive process of stylistic research, through which we embraced a dimension never before explored by the shipyard.”
The interiors of the first unit are designed by Francesco Paszkowski in collaboration with Margherita Casprini. The design reflects the forms of the exterior, with curved furniture pieces, rugs with flowing shapes and a mix of materials.
Casprini says: “The choice of materials, meticulously curated and elegantly refined, plays a crucial role in achieving the yacht’s warm and modern atmosphere. The interiors are dominated by matte wood finishes, giving the yacht a natural, refined feel, while more eclectic materials bring vibrancy and uniqueness to the various spaces. Each ensuite bathroom, for example, features a different variety of marble with colours and textures that are carried through into the artwork on board.”

Technical features include a diesel-electric propulsion system developed with Siemens Energy. Six variable-speed Volvo Penta – Mase generators drive twin Schottel E-Pods of 1,000kW each. The system integrates LEHMANN COBRA water-cooled battery systems using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells with a combined 1.5MWh capacity.
Giovanni Bizzarri, new product development executive director, says: “With redundancy built into both the power and propulsion systems, owners can enjoy peace of mind knowing the yacht’s essential functions remain unaffected in case of any failure.”

The sun deck has dining areas, a hot tub and sunbathing areas, while the owner’s deck includes a suite with lounge, office, two bathrooms and private terrace with hot tub. Guest accommodation is on the main deck with five ensuite cabins, including a full-beam VIP suite. The main saloon and dining areas open to the outside through sliding glass doors. The lower deck features a beach club and wellness area, made larger thanks to the flexible layout options of the propulsion system. Facilities include a gym, massage room, sauna and hammam plunge pool.
A transom door and fold-down bulwarks expand the beach club space at water level. The tank deck houses storage, service and crew areas, with options for customisation including hydroponic cultivation for growing fresh produce.

At 1,900GT, the 74Steel remains within Sanlorenzo’s stated focus on vessels below 2,000GT. In a statement, the shipyard says it still aims to avoid the increased complexity of larger gigayachts, which is says “become increasingly difficult to manage in terms of both market appeal and production complexity”.
In its H1 results for 2025, released in September, Sanlorenzo noted a strong demand for yachts above 30 metres, with the Superyacht Division recording a 10.2 per cent revenue increase.
