Port Denarau Marina has completed a $6m expansion that includes Fiji’s first ‘megayacht’ berth, capable of accommodating vessels up to 115 metres. The four-month project has added seven berths in total, marking the South Pacific’s first facility of this kind and expanding Fiji’s capacity to host large vessels.
PDM Board chair, Malakai Naiyaga, says: “This is more than infrastructure – it is a forward-looking investment in Fiji’s future as the leading superyacht destination in the South Pacific. It enables us to welcome the world’s most prestigious vessels while generating local jobs, supporting marine tourism, and strengthening our position on the global stage.”
The development centres on a 208-metre jetty extension, with dredging carried out to deepen approach channels and turning basins to support safe navigation. The design incorporates the Super Elite Marina System from Marine Structures in Australia, which uses elastomeric hinge technology to provide flexibility, enable rapid installation and reduce maintenance needs. Utility pedestals supplied by Patron Power and upgraded fuel lines from Pacific Energy have been installed to provide reliable access to power and fuel at berth.

Cynthia Rasch, general manager of Port Denarau Marina, says: “This expansion reflects our commitment to providing world-class facilities for visiting yachts. By combining high engineering standards with environmental care, we are strengthening Fiji’s role in international superyacht tourism.”
Located 20 minutes from Nadi International Airport, Port Denarau Marina is the main gateway for yacht visitors to Fiji’s west coast. The marina is part of the Denarau Island Resort and provides provisioning, fuel, water, power and Wi-Fi. Facilities include 63 commercial and 62 private berths, 16 swing moorings, 26 berths for superyachts up to 115m with a 5m draft, a 30-tonne travel lift, hardstand and workshops.
