Two boats have sunk and several others sustained damage following a fire at Premier Marinas’ Chichester Marina in Birdham, West Sussex, on Wednesday evening (3 August).
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 21:15BST after explosions were reported on one of the vessels. According to Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team, the fire spread to a second boat and damaged others moored on the same pontoon.
West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (WSFRS) were on scene with three fire engines working to contain the blaze and prevent it spreading.
Online footage (courtesy of Derrick Tyler) shows at least one boat on fire as crews battle the flames.
A safety cordon was established while firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control, and the public was advised to avoid the area.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected.
