Otter, the Swiss company behind the electrically assisted Otter Bike, is entering the US market through a partnership with Florida-based Nautical Ventures.
From September, Nautical Ventures becomes Otter’s exclusive reseller in Florida. It will stock units, display demonstration models and feature the Otter Bike in the AquaZone at major US boat shows, including Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach.
This represents Otter’s first presence in the US. The company initially piloted the product in Switzerland and expanded into Europe earlier in 2025. The firm says that — following high demand and strong uptake of the first production run — Florida was selected as the entry point because of its boating culture, inland waterways and interest in new water sports.
“After successfully piloting Otter in Switzerland and then launching more broadly in Europe this spring, expanding to the US was the natural next step,” says Otter founder Gian Zimmermann.
“Think of it as a personal mini yacht that’s easy to handle and emission free,” he explains. “It’s a new category of water recreation, and we believe it will resonate strongly in the US, especially in Florida, where lifestyle, wellness, and water are so deeply intertwined.”
Nautical Ventures says it will be presenting the Otter Bike in the AquaZone at major boat shows in the coming season.
“Partnering with Nautical Ventures gives us an immediate foothold in the US with a trusted and professional team that knows how to introduce innovative products to the market,” says Zimmermann. “We also share a vision of making water recreation more sustainable and more accessible.”
The company reports that its first production run is nearly sold out. Preparations are underway for the next series, which will include improvements based on customer feedback. Further product development is also in progress, with new designs planned for the future.
“The US launch is a major milestone, but it’s also a springboard for more innovation,” says Zimmermann. “We’re already preparing for the next series, with improvements and lessons learned from the field being implemented.”
