Azimut has launched Neuron, a digital yacht management system developed with MDP Tech. The system is designed to provide automation, diagnostics and surveillance through both an onboard interface and remote access.
Neuron allows owners to manage systems such as lighting, climate control and entertainment, and to monitor and analyse the vessel remotely. The system supports remote diagnostics, which Azimut says can cut routine and extraordinary maintenance needs by 70 per cent. On request, after-sales technicians can access the system remotely to run diagnostics or resolve issues, reducing the need for in-person intervention.
The system incorporates a risk-analysis approach intended to minimise disruption at sea and on land. It is designed with plug-and-play capability so that individual components, including control units, can be replaced quickly. According to Azimut, the system reduces wiring weight by 50 per cent, frees technical space for other uses and adjusts electricity consumption based on real demand.
“Neuron is a highly innovative system. It is a useful, practical innovation, not an end in itself, but a powerful means,” says Ruggero Gandolfi, Azimut’s technical director. “Neuron truly improves the owner’s life, not only allowing them to monitor their vessel from home and directly manage certain systems with great ease, but also performing diagnostic tests and reducing unscheduled maintenance. And, at the same time, it allows us as a shipyard to offer an even more reliable product. All this allows us to offer the owner a more peaceful and happy onboard experience.”
Neuron has undergone six months of experimental installation on an Azimut Fly 53 and is now entering final verification and testing. The company plans to make it standard on Azimut yachts up to 80ft in the near future.
Founded in 1969, Azimut is part of the Azimut-Benetti Group. The company builds motor yachts from 42ft to 144ft across seven series: Verve, Atlantis, Magellano, Fly, S, Grande and Seadeck. Headquartered in Avigliana, Turin, it operates five production facilities in Italy and one in Brazil, with a network in 80 countries.
