Yamaha Motor Europe has confirmed the launch of two new outboard engines for the European market in 2026.

The V MAX SHO 250hp and V MAX SHO 200hp models extend Yamaha’s Super High Output (SHO) range, which is built on a 4.2-litre V6 platform. Both engines have previously been available in other regions and are being introduced in Europe for the first time.

Yamaha says the SHO models are designed for applications that require strong acceleration and torque. Both the 250hp and 200hp engines use plasma-fused sleeveless cylinders to reduce weight and improve efficiency. In its marketing materials, the firm says it has focused on maintaining a compact build and optimised power-to-weight ratios.

Key technical features include a 4.2-litre V6 platform designed for high torque and acceleration, plasma-fused sleeveless cylinders to reduce weight and improve durability, and Power Trim & Tilt with TotalTilt, which allows full tilt-up or tilt-down control via a double-tap button function.

A 70A alternator delivers 12V electrical power to support on-board systems such as lighting, bilge pumps and fish finders. Electronic fuel injection (EFI) provides consistent throttle response and fuel efficiency, while a double overhead camshaft (DOHC) with 24 valves and TCI ignition improves airflow, combustion and reliability. The engines also incorporate noise and vibration reduction measures for quieter operation.

The engines feature Yamaha’s V MAX SHO styling, with cowlings designed to distinguish them visually from other models.

Fabrice Lacoume, marine director at Yamaha Motor Europe, says: “With the launch of the V MAX SHO 250hp and 200hp in Europe, Yamaha extends its legacy of quality outboard engines into two new engines that deliver incredible acceleration. These engines combine race-inspired performance with ultimate practicality, delivering every bit as much excitement as they do reliability.”

The engines will be available to order in Europe from Q4 2025.
